چکیده

A 61-year-old man presented with right-sided somatosensory seizures and evidence of left-sided pachymeningeal enhancement on a cerebral MRI (figure, A–C). The patient had seizure 12 years prior. Upon review the previous MRI, similar inflammatory changes in contralateral hemisphere were seen D–E). Serologic cerebrospinal fluid analysis brain PET scan demonstrated no abnormality. Brain biopsy revealed chronic lymphohistiocytic meningitis. His episodic arthropathy prompted rheumatological workup that elevated cyclic citrullinated peptide rheumatoid factor, suggestive palindromic rheumatism, corresponding imaging findings reminiscent those described meningitis.1,2 He improved after brief course steroids resolution meningeal F).

A tale of two hemispheres

specific type of gravity model when a homogeneous distribution of the populations (and thus opportunities) is assumed. This could explain why the gravity-theory analogy has been so persistent in mobility research, and also indicates that it is equivalent to an idealized scenario, one hardly ever encountered in real-life settings. The radiation model may provide a route to further exploration. I...

Bilingual language lateralization: a meta-analytic tale of two hemispheres.

Two meta-analyses of 66 behavioral studies examined variables influencing functional cerebral lateralization of each language of brain-intact bilingual adults. Functional lateralization was found to be primarily influenced by age of onset of bilingualism: bilinguals who acquired both languages by 6 years of age showed bilateral hemispheric involvement for both languages, whereas those who acqui...

The most frequent cause is the occlusion of the long circumferent...

Teaching NeuroImages: chordoma.

A 30-year-old man presented with recurrent headaches. CT head revealed a clival chordoma (figure 1A). Chordomas originate from the embryonic remnants of the notochord and account for 2%–4% of all malignant bone tumors. They have a predilection for the axial skeleton, with 35% affecting the spheno-occipital region. The incidence peaks at ages 20–40 years. Male patients are affected twice Figure ...
